You may never notice it, but the clipboard is a vital part of your operating system. It makes it possible to copy a file or a piece of text in one moment and paste it whenever you are ready. Its main drawback is the fact that it is not capable of storing more than one item. This can be changed with the aid of ClipMon. It stores any item you copy, making it possible to use it whenever you want, even if you copy something else in the meantime.

ClipMon is freeware and it takes a few moments to install it. It works on all modern Windows platforms without using too many resources. It comes in a small setup file, which should not take long to download, even with slower Internet connections.

The application will place a sticky note on your desktop, which displays your current clipboard contents. When you copy a piece of text or a file, it will appear on the sticky note instantly. Pressing the Print Screen key will have the same effect. The image will be displayed on the same sticky note. You may right click the sticky note to reveal a series of options, for opening the content with its default application, sending it to a certain target, clearing the clipboard and more. In addition, ClipMon gives you the possibility of transforming any text to plain text format.

The main advantage of ClipMon is the fact that it comes with a clipboard history browser. Anything you copy is categorized on a tabbed window. You can browse through text, image and file clips, which can be copied, moved, opened with their default applications or parent folders. When browsing through text items, you can transform the saved text into bullet or number lists, encrypt and decrypt it or open it in Notepad or Wordpad.

It is also possible to drag and drop the saved items to any location. If you perfrom this action on files, they will be copied or moved. Snapshots will be saved in PNG format and text items will be copied in their original format. For example, if a text fragment is copied in MS Word, dragging and dropping the saved item from the history browser to any location will save it as a MS Word document.

Pros

The application will save anything you copy to the clipboard. This allows you to access, copy or move the contents at any time. Files, snapshots and text are stored on separate tabs, so you can find them much faster. You can also drag and drop items to any location on your desktop or an explorer window.

Cons

There is no option for clearing the history browser. ClipMon will enhance the standard Windows clipboard, giving you the possibility of using previously copied items at any time.
